How COVID Turned Me into a Nomad

Updated: Mar 3, 2024

In the video below, I was being interviewed for the Taiwanese national radio about my travels and unplanned nomadism prior to my arrival to Taiwan during covid.

In the talk show, I share about:

  • How I experienced cultural shock in France, Jordan and China.

  • Why and how I moved to China.

  • What it’s like to be an au-pair in China.

  • How I decided I hated Paris and dropped out of law school.

  • How I lived in Prague for free for 4 months after a stranger offered me his cozy flat.

  • How I landed a residential position with a royal billionaire family.

  • How I hopped on a plane and moved to Portugal during the pandemic without a plan.

  • How I got locked out of China and separated from the entirety of my belongings during covid and how I then eventually retrieved them thanks to complete strangers after 27 months of leading a minimalist lifestyle.

  • How I wasn’t invited to my own graduation ceremony after I finished my Master’s degree at the “Chinese Harvard” and why I am still waiting for the degree certificate 5 months later.

  • How I eventually made it to Taiwan. Or maybe not yet — that’s coming in Part 2! Stay tuned!

This first part of this interview conducted by Beverly Liu, the host of "Friday Happy Hour in Formosa", an English-language show aimed to inspire Taiwanese listeners wishing to practice their English and broaden their horizons broadcasted on the National Education Radio, was originally aired on July 22, 2022.

It was also published by the radio as Episode 21 of their eponymous show on Apple Podcast. The talk is likewise available in podcast form on my own channel on both Spotify and Apple Podcast.
